Using Our Hearts, Bodies, and Minds to Serve You!
Our holistic approach to home care extends not only to our clients, but to our caregivers as well. We put our hearts, bodies, and minds into our caregiver training, embracing the following principals in order to live up to our name and our full potential as care providers:
Heart – We are passionate about serving others and compassionate toward the challenges aging, disability and illness can present for clients and their families. We put our hearts into all that we do for those we serve.
Body – We take good care of ourselves so that we can care for the physical wellbeing of others. We firmly believe that physical wellness is connected to intellectual/emotional, social and spiritual wellness.
Mind – We use our minds to continue training and educating ourselves about better ways to provide care, and for our own personal development. We listen and provide our clients and caregivers with opportunities to stimulate their intellectual/emotional, social and spiritual needs.

Tax requirements
When you hire an independent caregiver, you take on the role of employer, which means you are now responsible for Social Security taxes, Medicare, unemployment compensation, workers’ compensation, withholding payroll taxes, and completing government reporting forms.

Personal liability
If an independent caregiver claims injury from helping you or a loved one out of bed or has a car accident while shopping for groceries, you could be held responsible for the caregiver’s hospital costs, injuries, lost wages, and damages.

Coverage gaps
If an independent caregiver calls off sick or needs to take time off, there is no back-up plan and you may find yourself needing to find someone to fill in on short notice.

Checks
Professional and personal reference checks and state and federal criminal background checks When hiring an independent caregiver, you are responsible for running any reference and background checks on your own.
However, when you work with Heart, Body, & Mind Home Care, all caregivers are bonded, insured, and employed by us, which means we cover all tax requirements, workers’ compensation, etc. Also, if your caregiver is out for any reason, we make sure another caregiver is there, guaranteed.
